Ukraine can receive about $ 6 billion of credit resources from Russian banks for the development of atomic energy. This was stated by the Commissioner of the Ukrainian Government on cooperation with Russia, the CIS and other regional associations Valery Muntiyan, RIA Novosti reports.
According to the Muntiyan, these agreements were reached during a meeting of the Ukrainian-Russian interstate commission in December. "The commission instructed the governments of the two countries to take urgent measures that will contribute to the growth of investment volumes in 2014. And one of the main industries is nuclear energy. In particular, it is proposed to continue measures to organize nuclear fuel for VVER -1000 reactors, prepare proposals for the completion of the third and fourth power units of the Khmelnitsky nuclear power plant," noted the Commissioner.
On Wednesday, Munityyan said that Ukraine is counting on investment in the shipbuilding sphere of $ 4 billion, correspondent.net reported . He recalled that during a meeting of the Ukrainian-Russian Interstate Commission, a memorandum was signed on the intensification of cooperation in the field of shipbuilding between the Ministry of Industrial Policy of Ukraine and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia.
“These will be specific projects according to which ships will begin to build for Russian and Ukrainian fleets. After all, Russia plans to master the north, they need to transport liquefied gas,” Munityyan said.
On December 17, President Vladimir Putin, following a meeting with his Ukrainian colleague Viktor Yanukovych, announced that Russia will post $ 15 billion from the reserves of the National Welfare fund in Ukrainian securities . He explained such a step in the problems of the economy of Ukraine, which are “largely connected with the global financial economic crisis”.
In addition, it was decided to reduce gas prices to Ukraine. In the first three quarters of 2013, the average price of Russian gas for Kyiv was $ 404 per 1000 cubic meters. Now it is reduced to $ 268.5. Putin emphasized that the reduction in the price is a temporary measure, but "Russia is ready to continue to meet the partners."
The next day, Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov said that Putin saved Ukraine from bankruptcy and social collapse . The consent of Russia to reduce gas prices for a neighboring country, Azarov called the historical event, noting that the previously concluded gas contract "drained the domestic economy."
On October 19, speaking of a loan of Ukraine at a press conference, Putin emphasized that he is provided on a commercial basis. "I do not see any wastefulness here, this is a clear support of our Ukrainian friends," Putin said. The decision on financial assistance to Ukraine "is in no way connected with either the Maidan or the Euro -Peregovory," the president said. The Russian authorities "must act as close relatives and support the fraternal Ukrainian people in a difficult situation," he explained. According to him, economic, social and political difficulties arose in Ukraine both for internal and "objective external" reasons.
As Putin emphasized, Russia cares about the well -being of ordinary Ukrainians, and not the current authorities of Ukraine. In the case of an association with the European Union, Ukraine will turn into an agricultural appendage, Putin said. “Moreover, the appendages are different: healthy and not very,” he added. According to Putin, Russia is not against the Kyiv association with the EU, but will protect its economy.
