
In the prayer house of the village of Lenino, restored after the arson on November 17, worships were resumed in the Novosheshminsky district of Tatarstan.
As reported on Friday in the Tatarstan Metropolis of the Russian Orthodox Church, the first service - the festive Christmas service - was committed on January 8, Interfax reports.
“The premises have made a cosmetic repairs. This is still a temporary measure, but very impressive. Currently, the Government of the Republic is building a new church, which the parishioners have long been dreaming,” Archpriest Alexander Pavlov, secretary of the Kazan diocese, told the agency.
In total, according to him, in Tatarstan there are 279 Orthodox parishes: in the Kazan diocese - 144, Almetyevskaya - 43, Chistopolskaya - 92. Services are conducted in churches, prayer houses, cathedrals. In addition, nine monasteries function, of which two are female.
As already reported , since the beginning of the year, seven arson of the Orthodox churches have occurred in a number of regions of Tatarstan. A criminal case was opened under Art. 205 of the Criminal Code (terrorist attack). In addition, a criminal case is being investigated on November 17 of explosive devices (homemade missiles) in the Alekseevsky district and Nizhnekamsk, the case was opened under Articles 30-205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (preparation of the terrorist attack). Several suspects were detained, including residents of Chistopol, one of them has already been charged.
The investigation of cases is under the control of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov. According to his order, the Ministry of Agriculture of the republic will restore the burned temples or build new ones. Moreover, funds for the restoration of temples were raised and transferred to the Orthodox communities and Muslims of the republic.
