
The Supreme EU representative for foreign affairs and security policy Katherine Ashton is ready to visit Iran for the first time. This was announced today by ITAR-TASS representative of the press service of the head of European diplomacy.
On Saturday, the Iranian news agency Mehr with reference to the words of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Iri Abbas Aragchi reported that Ashton was invited to visit Iran.
According to the press service, Ashton "with interest took media reports about a possible invitation to visit Iran." "The Supreme Representative has already indicated that she intends to visit Tehran as she advanced to work on the way to achieve a comprehensive agreement (according to the Iranian nuclear program)," they said there.
Earlier, deputies of the heads of foreign policy departments of the EU and Iran Helga Schmid and Abbas Aragchi at negotiations in Geneva, according to the press service of Ashton, reached "progress on all issues related to the implementation of the Geneva joint action plan."
