Earlier, Lukin himself did not exclude the possibility of his reassignment to the third term. The procedure for considering the issue of New Ombudsman started in the State Duma on January 16. The term of powers of Lukin in this post expires on February 18. By this time, candidates should be presented to the Lower Chamber. According to the law, they have the right to nominate the President, the Federation Council, the State Duma factions and individual deputies. The procedure for self -nomination is also possible. Until February 18, the profile committee of the State Duma (according to constitutional legislation and state building) must collect all proposals for candidates, and then give its recommendations, and the Lower Chamber will be made the final decision.
