Zhitenev and Bezmensky are contained in the Moscow pre-trial detention center "Vodnik".

The investigator and the prosecutor insisted on extending the arrest activists. Kovalevskaya ignored the arguments of the prisoners and their lawyers, who insisted that there were no facts confirming the intention of those arrested to hide from the investigation and continue "criminal activity".

Zhitenev’s lawyer said that the activist had a father and mother paralyzed, and a minor child is in dependency. However, Kovalevskaya also did not take these facts into account.

Previously, the Hope's defense movement reported health problems with Zhitenev. It was also suggested that both activists seek indications for the coordinator of movement in defense of Hopra, Koluhin Rubakhin. At the same time, the movement reported that Bezmensky could not withstand the pressure and gave the required indications. It was not ruled out that Rubakhin was put on the wanted list.

Bezmensky was detained on November 26, 2013 in Voronezh, Zhitenev, who is an ataman of the national cultural autonomy of the Cossacks of Novokhopersk, a little later in Borisoglebsk. Both suspects were taken to Moscow.

The basis for initiating the case was the statement of Peter Yamov, adviser to the general director of the Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company, which is conducting exploration at the Khopra. UMMC belongs to the oligarch Iskander Makhmudov.

Yamov claimed that the eco -defenders demanded money from the company, otherwise threatening the continuation of protests, as well as "intentional damage to property." "For several months they conducted unauthorized rallies, carried out riots and arson," the Ministry of Internal Affairs said. The department estimated the damage from these actions in the amount of over 60 million rubles. In particular, it was noted that Bezmensky at different times received more than 9 million rubles from the company, which he spent on personal purposes, including the purchase of a premium car.

The movement in defense of Hopra at the same time reported a search in a Moscow apartment where Rubakhin stops. Rubakhin himself was not in the apartment.
