A resident of Kolyma received 2 years in a colony settlement for storing gold

The Magadan City Court sentenced the 37-year-old resident of the regional center Rustam Kirgizov, who was found guilty of illegal storage of precious metals. Almost 3 kilograms of gold were seized from the accused during the search.

By decision of the Russian Femis, Rustam Kyrgyz will spend two years behind bars. He will serve his sentence in a colony settlement, the official website of the regional prosecutor's office reports.

It was established that in June 2013, "contrary to the established order of the Kyrgyz, it illegally acquired a native (floodplain) gold weighing more than 2.8 kilograms, the cost of which was over 3.5 million rubles." The man turned this gold to his property and illegally kept for about a month in his car.

"In July 2013, his illegal activity was suppressed by employees of the Department of Economic Security and Anti -Corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Magadan region," the press release said. They found and seized the indicated precious metal.

At the hearing, the defendant fully pleaded guilty to committing a crime, repented of his deed, in connection with which the criminal case was considered in the manner of special proceedings. Rustama Kyrgyzova was convicted under Part 1 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal storage of precious metals committed in large scale), which provides for a punishment of up to five years in prison.

The sentence has not yet entered into legal force.
