So far, an unknown Russian participant in Eurovision will perform in the first part of the semifinals

The Russian participant in the Eurovision Song Contest-2014, whose name is still unknown, will perform in the first part of the first semifinals, which will be held on May 6 in Copenhagen, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the press service of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), organizing the competition.

The distribution of participating countries in two semi-finals took place on Monday during a draw as part of a ceremony at the Copenhagen City Hall, during which the Danish capital officially adopted the status of the Eurovision Most City.

In total, in 2014, 37 countries will take part in the competition. In the first semifinals, which will be held on May 6, 16 countries will perform, and in the second semifinals of May 8, 15 countries will participate. The countries of the "Big Five" and the host country of the competition will be held to the final outside the competition.

Together with Russia, Sweden, Albania, Iceland, Latvia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Estonia will perform in the first half of the first semifinals, and Belgium, Hungary, Moldova, Montenegro, San Marino, Portugal, Ukraine and the Netherlands will take part in its second part.

In the first part of the second semi -final, Norway, Israel, Georgia, Austria, Lithuania, Poland and Malta are included. In the second part of the second semi -final, artists from Macedonia, Finland, Ireland, Romania, Slovenia, Belarus, Greece and Switzerland will perform.

In addition, at the ceremony on Monday, it was announced how they would vote during the semi-finals of the country of the Big Five and the country of the contest. So, spectators from Spain, France and Denmark will be able to participate in the choice of finalists of the first part of the semifinals, and fans of the competition from Germany, Italy and the UK will be able to cast their votes for the performers who are in the second.

The serial numbers of the participants of both semifinals will be determined later by the decision of the producers of the show, and not the draw, as before. Such a system of distribution of contestants in the semi -finals is held for the second year. This decision was made by the Eurovision leadership back in 2012 in order to "make the show even more spectacular and emphasize the uniqueness of each song."

The Eurovision Song Contest has been held annually since 1956. The right to accept the competition is received by the country whose representative became the winner of the last competition. The right to hold Eurovision 2014 was brought by Denmark by singer Emmily de Forest, who represented the country at the 2013 competition with the song Only Teardrops and took first place, gaining 281 points. Russian participant Dina Garipova with the composition of What IF took fifth place.
