The largest Russian air carriers of Aeroflot and Transaero were sent to agencies for the sale of telegrams, in which they "categorically banned" the sale of air tickets at prices lower than on their sites.
Aeroflot was limited only to setting the minimum ticket price, but Transaero went further by forbidding partner agencies to provide passengers with discounts at the expense of commission rewards, said the Daily RBC newspaper. Both airlines warned counterparties that they were ready to suspend contractual relations if they were disobeyed.
The airlines explain the anti -dumping telegram with the fear of repeating the story with Eviterra. 6,000 tickets sold on the company's website were canceled in early January, since Eviterra did not pay with the Avia Center consolidator.
Aeroflot and Transaero occupy the first and second places, respectively, in terms of sales at online agencies. Over the year, a large agency sells 30-50% of air tickets at a discount, but it never goes into minus, leaving at least a small share of the agency commission.
Transaero believes that agents should not sell transportation below the tariff published by the airline itself, since they conclude an agreement with a passenger on behalf of the airline.
Already now on the sites of these airlines you can find tickets cheaper than that of agencies. For example, the flight in economy class from Moscow to Yekaterinburg at the end of January Aeroflot offers on its website for 4669 rubles, you can buy a ticket for 4759 rubles on the Biletix website for the same flight, for 4676 rubles - on the Anywaysyday website.
