January 20, Monday

In the Moscow City Court resumed hearings on the murder of journalist Anna Politkovskaya. But the new jury was not able to start the process, because the lawyer of one of the defendants asked for another week to study the volumes of the case. Many called the meeting scandalous: only eight journalists were allowed to go to the courtroom. There was no place for the rest of the public: 10 operatives were guarded by the judge and the prosecutor.

The international organization Human Rights Watch introduced an annual report on the observance of human rights in the world. 2013 in Russia is called the year of unprecedented repressions.

January 23, Thursday

The Moscow City Hall submitted an application for the march for freedom of "Prisoners of Bolotnaya." The declared number of participants is 30 thousand people, the route of movement is from the Square of the Belorussky station to Manezhnaya Square. The city hall refused to conduct the procession along Tverskaya, offering to hold a rally on Sakharov Avenue. The organizers promise to send the answer to the city hall on January 27.

Alexei Navalny was called for interrogation in the IC of the Russian Federation in the new case. He was handed the agenda while familiarizing himself with the materials of the case "Yves Rocher". According to the press service of the IC of the Russian Federation, Navalny will be questioned as a witness in the case of the theft of 100 million rubles from the Soyuz of the Right Forces in 2007.

The State Duma adopted a bill on the creation of a military police. According to the document, the military police are intended “to protect the life, health, rights and freedoms of military personnel, citizens undergoing military training, to counteract crime, ensure the lawships, law and order, military discipline, and military security” ... Military police will receive the right to initiate criminal cases, investigate crimes of small and medium gravity. In addition, they will participate in counter -terrorism operations and suppress the riots.
