"In 1506 a comet appeared in the sky and was visible for several nights, and it turned its tail towards Spain. There was a bountiful harvest that year, but it was all destroyed by caterpillars and rats. Then came earthquakes in the eighth and ninth years in Spain and in Italy. And they were so strong that even in Constantinople many houses were destroyed and many people died.
In 1531, on January 26, bloody fire signs were observed in the sky over Lisbon, and on January 28, a huge whale rose from the water into the sky. Then came a great earthquake. And about two hundred houses collapsed, and more than a thousand people were killed."
