Diter Rams, a well -known German industrial designer, whose approach to design is used by companies such as Apple, have formulated 10 principles of good design over the years of his work.

In 1970, Diter Rams began to more and more worrying the state of the world around him - "an incomprehensible mixing of forms, flowers and sounds."
Realizing that he makes a significant contribution to what this world looks like, Dieter asked himself an important question: “Is my design a good design?”
Since a good design cannot be given a simple unequivocal definition, Diter identified the 10 most important principles that determine what is a good design.

The possibilities for innovation are inexhaustible. Technological development always gives new opportunities for innovative design.
But innovative design is always developing in tandem with innovative technologies and can never be an end in itself.

The product is bought in order to use it. It must meet certain criteria - not only functional, but also psychological and aesthetic.
Good design emphasizes the usefulness of the product, excluding all the excess.

The aesthetic quality of the product is an integral part of its usefulness, because the products that we use every day affect us and our well -being. Only well -made objects can be beautiful.

Good design makes the essence of the product. With a very good design, the product speaks for itself.

Products are the same tools. They are not decorative objects or works of art. Therefore, their design should be neutral and restrained to leave a place for self -expression of the user.

A good design does not make the product more innovative, powerful or valuable than it is. A good design is not trying to manipulate consumers with the help of promises that cannot restrain.

Good design avoids being fashionable, so it never becomes obsolete.

Nothing should be left to the will. Attentiveness and accuracy in the design process shows respect for product users.

The design makes an important contribution to the preservation of the environment. It retains resources and minimizes physical and visual pollution throughout the life cycle of the product.

Less - better. The design is concentrated on the main aspects of the product and there are no extra details in it.
Good design is a clean and simple design.
