Activist of the Euromaidan, whom the “Golden Eagle” doused with water, died of pneumonia

In the regional hospital of Ivano-Frankivsk, an activist of the Kyiv Euromaidan died businessman Bogdan Kalinyak, who received pneumonia, after the Berkutians doused him with water during clashes on Grushevsky Street. It is reported by "Today.ua" with reference to Igor Slyuzar, the mayor of the city of Kolomyia in the Ivano-Frankivsk, where the deceased lived. Kalinyak and Slyuzar were old acquaintances - in the past, they worked at the same factory for about 20 years.

The activist died on January 28, the day before his 53rd birthday.

“He spent almost all two months on the Maidan,” Slyuzar told about his comrade. “He went there about four times.” Having caught pneumonia against the backdrop of heart failure, Kalinyak remained in Kyiv for some time and was treated independently. He returned home only when his condition was seriously worsening.

Slyuzar added that although Kalinyuk was a wealthy person, the people's radical Rada Kolomyia decided to pay for the funeral of the activist. “People understand that he passed away not because of his own ambitions, but in the name of each of us and the future of the country,” the mayor explained.

During the unrest on the Euromaidan, several protests were killed. The last was a man who received a gunshot wound on January 29 on Grushevsky Street. The wounded man was taken to the 17th City Board of Kyiv, but it was not possible to save him. The deputy of Kyiv from the blow, Alexei Davidenko, stated in connection with what happened: "On the one hand, the authorities say that he is negotiating a peaceful settlement of the situation, and on the other, the protesters are shooting."

The use of water interfaces at minus temperature according to international standards is equated with torture. Meanwhile, on January 22, the Ukrainian government allowed the police to use watering water to accelerate protesters, despite the frost. For several days, the security forces doused the demonstrators with water without government permission.
