The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine turned to President Viktor Yanukovych with a request to "take urgent measures to stabilize the situation in the country and achieve consent in society." This was reported on the website of the Ukrainian military department.

The text of the appeal was discussed on Thursday at the general meeting of the Ministry of Defense. "The military personnel and employees of the Armed Forces of Ukraine called the unacceptable power seizure of state institutions, the obstruction of representatives of state authorities and local self -government to fulfill their duties, noting that the further escalation of the confrontation threatens the territorial integrity of the state," the report on the past meeting says.

The preparation of the text of the circulation was reported a few days earlier. As the Left Coast wrote with reference to a certain informed source, on January 28, the first deputy chief of the General Staff General, Lieutenant General Yuri Dumansky, collected officers of the General Staff several times and demanded unanimously support the appeal to Yanukovych. The text, which was read out by the officers, said that "the military were concerned about the situation in the country, and ask for the commander in chief (Yanukovych. - Ed.) To take effective and urgent measures to restore order, preserve the country and prevent further extremism."

At the same time, the interlocutor of the publication noted that not all officers expressed consent to support the document.

Earlier, the headquarters of national resistance reported that an urgent telegram signed the Dumansky with a request to urgently conduct general training officers and support the appeal to Yanukovych to all the military units of Ukraine . The text of the circulation was attached to the telegram.

On January 29, the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the "Fatherland" Anatoly Gritsenko wrote on his Facebook page that officers who refuse to support Yanukovych’s appeal are forced to resign . “Despite a good track record without a single penalty, for the availability of combat experience, for the lack of housing, some even a year before the legal right to receive a pension,” the deputy wrote. Gritsenko advised the officers not to file a resignation reports, and in the case of dismissal at the initiative of the command - to apply to the court.

On Sunday, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Pavel Lebedev said that the army does not plan to intervene in the conflict of citizens with the authorities . "The army will strictly follow the Constitution and the laws of Ukraine, which clearly prescribe its role, functions and tasks, including the use of the Armed Forces," the minister promised. Lebedev called the proposals of some politicians to intervene the army in resolving the conflict. “This is excluded,” he said.

A day later, Lebedev assured that the salary of the military would still increase . In March 2013, the defense department decided on a quarterly increase in military salary by 20 percent. This decision remains in force, Lebedev noted, and in January, after the next increase, the remuneration "will be paid in full."
