In the Duma they want to legislatively protect the USSR

In the latest version of the bill, which introduces criminal liability for the rehabilitation of Nazism, criticism of the actions of the troops of the anti -Hitler coalition was replaced by criticism of the Soviet Union.

The final version of the bill prepared by the leadership of the United Russia faction will be submitted to the State Duma, Vedomosti reports with reference to the chairman of the Security Committee Irina Yarovaya. In her opinion, the new edition has more chances to receive the approval of deputies.

The document provides for a criminal punishment for the public denial of the facts and the approval of crimes established by the Nuremberg Tribunal, as well as for the obviously false accusations of the USSR of committing crimes during the Second World War.

A fine of up to 300,000 rubles or up to three years of imprisonment is introduced for these actions, for the same actions using an official position or media - a fine of 100,000 to 500,000 rubles or up to five years in prison.

None of the previous editions of the project had mentioned the USSR, but it was said about the criticism of the actions of the troops of the anti -Hitler coalition. Some historians were afraid that it would be forbidden to criticize the bombing of Dresden and Hiroshima. And the Soviet Union of war crimes established by the Nuremberg Tribunal did not commit, said at a meeting of the Patriotic platform of United Russia on Friday, January 31, the dean of the Higher School of Television of Moscow State University Vitaly Tretyakov.
