On January 19, 2014, in Kyiv on Grushevsky Street, the peaceful action of the Ukrainian Euromaidan turned into the beginning of the Civil War. With explosions of noise and gas grenades, Molotov cocktails, shooting activists of the Berkut fighters, the construction of outposts from bags doused with cold water, murders of civilians, repression, exporting people to the forest, torture and other characteristic features inherent in the dictatorial regime of “under construction”. Seeing on TV what was happening, I could not stay indifferent to this, for there was a story there. I contacted a colleague and friend Sergei Lebedinsky, the decision to travel to Kyiv was made lightning fast, tickets were bought, and a day later we ran around the Maidan in a fierce frost with our film cameras. In the breaks between the filming, they searched for a place to warm up, drank tea, ate sandwiches, kindly provided by activists. Twice, God saved us from the attacks of the “Golden Eagle”, there was no protection, neither helmets, nor masks, nor even orange “frock fruits” with the inscription “Press”, although they would definitely not save us, because aimed fire was conducted in the press. Two days of non-stop, everyone is alive, scratches and there are no injuries, I'm on the train, Sergey on the plane, impressions and film with me.
