“The only possible solution to the problem is the two-stage reconstruction-restoration of the radio tower, which provides at the first stage of the dismantling and preservation of elements for the purpose of subsequent recovery,” the head of the Ministry of Communications Nikolai Nikiforov, who was at the disposal of Izvestia , said to the Government of the head of the Ministry of Communications.
The deputy head of the ministry, Alexei Volin, confirmed that the Ministry of Communications really insists on the speedy analysis of the tower, "so that she would not fall on his head."
A mesh tower with a height of 148.3 m was built in 1920-1922 on Shabolovskaya Street in Moscow according to the project of an engineer and architect Vladimir Shukhov (1853–1939). Initially, the tower was used for broadcasting, in 1939 regular television broadcasts began, since the early 2000s it has not been used for its intended purpose.
The Shukhov tower was recognized as an object of cultural heritage, but has never been restored. It suffered greatly from corrosion, and the details of the structure fall out of it. Attempts to give the tower additional strength with welded elements violated the basic principle laid down by Shukhov during design - a certain share of mobility and self -compensation in relation to external loads. The mobile base is concreted, which also violates the Shukhov kinematic design scheme.
In 2011, experts said that they studied the Shukhov tower that it was in a betrayal state, but now it has already passed into the stage of “consistent destruction,” the Ministry of Communications notes.
The need for urgent dismantling is due to loss of strength, and as a result - stability. In the area of the possible fall of parts of the tower there are college, six apartment buildings, seven VGTRK buildings on Shabolovka, school, playgrounds, several FSUs, parking and other objects.
This is what, as well as the fact that in the case of collapse it will not be possible to maintain unique elements of the tower structure, and the position of the Ministry of Communications is due to the position of the Ministry of Communications, Wolin explained. “We will analyze it, lubricate all the details and put it on the warehouse. It can be assembled again where the decision will be made. In any case, dismantling is the necessary stage of any reconstruction, ”the deputy minister said.
The situation with a serious deterioration in the condition of the supporting structures of the Shukhov tower will be discussed at a meeting of the government commission, appointed at the end of February - early March.
