On Monday, February 3, a professor, doctor of art history, Honored Artist of Russia, former rector of the Russian Academy of Theater Arts - GITIS Marina Khmelnitskaya died.

Marina Yulyevna Khmelnitskaya graduated from GITIS, graduate school of GITIS, worked in the state -owned and magazine Theater Life.

Since 1974, she began teaching in GITIS (specialization - the history of the XX century Theater), served as a vice -rector for academic work, in 2001 she became a rector.

In May 2009, Khmelnitskaya was ahead of schedule of the rector of GITIS - it was reported that this was due to administrative violations that were discovered when checking the university. After that, she remained at the Academy at the Department of History of the Theater of Russia.

Marina Khmelnitskaya had more than 100 publications in book publications and periodicals. In 2005, her book “The History of the Russian Drama Theater” was published.
