
The premiere of the last film by Alexei German Sr. "It is difficult to be a god" will take place on Tuesday in the Gogol Center, reports Interfax .
The picture of the Moscow audience will be presented with the widow of director Svetlana Karmalit, his son Alexei German Jr., the leading actor Leonid Yarmolnik, the producers of the film Viktor Izvekov and Rushan Nasibulin, the operator Yuri Klimenko and the Gogol-Kino curator Stas Tyrkin.
“It is difficult to be a god” - an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky. The film was shot for more than ten years.
Herman tried to shoot this film for the first time in 1968, four years after the release of the book. However, after Prague events, the director was banned to work on the film. The second time, Herman was going to take up the picture with the beginning of perestroika. Meanwhile, the "Sovinfilm" invited the director from Germany Peter Flyishman, and the Strugatsky refused to take part in the creation of the film. For the third time, Herman returned to the plot "hard to be a god" ten years later. The script was written by him with his wife "Based on" the story of Strugatsky.
The production of the film began in 1999. Initially, the main role - Don Rumata - was supposed to play St. Petersburg actor Alexander Lykov, but German did not like that Lykov was about to participate in one of the television projects, and the leading actor was replaced by Leonid Yarmolnik.
Filming was completed in 2006. The picture was shot in the Czech Republic, where the scenery was built - a medieval city - and in St. Petersburg. Due to Herman’s health problems, the installation and dummy dragged on. February 21, Herman died. An unfinished version of the film was shown in Moscow in April, the world premiere took place as part of the Roman festival in November 2013.
According to the plot of the film, a group of scientists from the Earth, led by Don Rumata, goes to the planet, immersed in the Middle Ages, in order to delicately correct the course of events without interfering in history. However, when a massacre begins in the city of Arkanar, Don Rumata does not withstand and enters into battle.
In the film, Yuri Tserilo, Peter Merkuryev, Evgeny Gerchakov, Anvar Libabov and others also starred in the film.
In the Russian rental, it will be difficult to be a god on February 27.
