US Ambassador to Russia Michael McFol said that after the Sochi Olympics, he intends to return home. He wrote about this on his blog on Livejournal.
“This is my last blog as an ambassador of the United States in the Russian Federation. Soon after the Olympics, I plan to return to the family in California. After more than five years of work in the administration of President Obama, it was time to return home, ”said McFol.
The American diplomat noted that after returning to his homeland, he will work at Standford University, and will also continue to participate in some projects for US President Barack Obama and its administration.
“But some of me - in an emotional, intellectual and spiritual sense - will forever remain in Russia,” McFol admitted.
The main reason for his return, the diplomat called the separation from the family that remained to live in the United States.
Michael McFol worked as an ambassador of the United States to Russia since September 15, 2011. Earlier, he served as a special assistant to the US President on National Security.
