Even harsh critics of the Olympics urge not to mix sport and politics.
Only this is impossible. And therefore, until the State Duma has not yet equated the questions that were not pleasant to the authorities to treason, I hasten to ask: why do we, the country, victory at the Olympics?
Why athletes, understandable. Fans - too. And the country?
They say the honor of Russia. Lies! The honor of Russia is not a puck against the enemy’s goal, but a banner over the Reichstag and the liberation of Auschwitz. The honor of Russia is the flight of Gagarin and the table of Mendeleev, Sakharov and Korolev, Stolypin and Gaidar. The honor of Russia is the inhabitants of the besieged Leningrad, although their death and suffering is at least equally at the conscience of not only fascists, but also our valiant leadership.
But dishonor is not in defeats in sports, not in an annoying failure in Vancouver. After all, our athletes fought there as selflessly as they would fight in Sochi. There is nothing to be ashamed. Well, maybe it was worth taking off the Minister of Sports, because they didn’t take it off. Our dishonor is different. Our dishonor is a gulag and a low life expectancy, the destruction and expulsion of the best people and a lie, a continuous lie for decades. The dishonor of Russia is thieves that have been so good at the Olympiad. So do not compare God's gift with fried eggs, do not say that in Sochi there is an honor of the country in the stake.
If our team takes first place in the team standings, the country, no matter how terrible it sounds, will not be better, but worse. And do not ascribe to me the Bolshevik desire for the defeat of your government - this is not a war, it is a sport, no less, but no more. After all, the victory will write off not only theft and stupidity, not only cruelty in relation to Sochi residents and damage caused by the unique ecology of the region. The victory will be covered by the children who died because of the law of Dima Yakovlev and the Volgograd terrorist attacks. Victory will inevitably be turned into a festival of self -love and bragging, as evidence of the correctness of the very course that leads us straight to the Middle Ages and isolates from the whole world. Hypocrisy will become more, readiness for a critical view of themselves - less. And all this will continue to reduce our chances of a normal life, already disappearing every day.
I envy the citizens of those countries in which they do not listen to the anthem in gloomy silence, but sing with tears in their eyes. I envy the citizens of those countries in which their victory is just a victory, a holiday without any coming circumstances. I hope that it will be so for us. Some day.
And of course, good luck in Sochi, each of them. They are not to blame that their victory will be stolen.
And most importantly - so that nothing to collapse there and does not crush people. And so that there are no terrorist attacks.
