On February 7, the writer Lyudmila Ulitskaya announced a summons to the Investigative Committee. Reason: in one of the books published under her patronage, there is a fragment about homosexual families.

The book “Family with us and with others”, which attracted the attention of law enforcement officers, is part of the “Children's Project” by Lyudmila Ulitskaya, which tells children and their families about the forms of everyday life and culture. The book is dedicated to families of different nations at different times. It has an artistic part, and there are also encyclopedic inserts with specific information. And among these inserts, there is one that interested everyone - about homosexual families in history and cultures. It takes up about half a page in the book.

The book was written back in 2006, but the investigating authorities noticed it only now. Of course, in connection with the adoption of a law banning propaganda of homosexuality among minors.

The Investigative Committee hastened to declare that it did not call anyone for interrogation - it simply received complaints from readers. The UK is somehow going to respond to complaints, sort things out… But how?

In fact, not only the Investigative Committee became interested in the book, but also the Ulyanovsk prosecutor's office for some reason. No one contacted me from Ulyanovsk, I learned everything from the media. Why are they suddenly? Apparently, some very active people live there.

Whether Lyudmila Ulitskaya was summoned for interrogation to the UK, I can’t say for sure. And here I was invited. But it was not even an interrogation, but rather a conversation. They were interested in this fragment, which people complained about - about homosexual families. I pointed out the sources I relied on when writing this sidebar. “What was the purpose of writing it anyway?” they asked.

Interest Ask. Never thought about him. I am an anthropologist and wrote the book as an anthropologist, not as a writer. I'm just talking about the fact that the history of homosexual marriages did not begin yesterday and that this happens among different peoples, and it still occurs among some African peoples. There were no other targets. So please consider me innocent.
