© Russia-CultureThe Ministry of Culture intends to “revise the criteria in supporting art - from“ elite ”and“ fashionable ” - to“ talented ”and“ socially significant ”, said the head of the Ministry of Culture Vladimir Medinsky.
“The state cannot be limited to the role of a manager guided by unified depersonalized criteria, the culture by definition does not tolerate unification or depersonalty, moreover, it rejects such an approach,” the Medinsky ITAR -TASS quotes.
In his opinion, the role of the “father-father” is complimentary, but controversial <...> this is from past eras. ” Medinsky is sure that "the role of the state is in the role of the organizer authorized by the company."
“The artist creates those works that inspire him to further creativity. The state is obliged to support what considers the relevant interests of the country. It is absurd if state support will be built on the principle of “give money and move away”, ”Medinsky believes.
“It never occurred to anyone to come to the entrepreneur with such an offer, and in the Ministry of Culture, it was previously thought, for some reason-it was possible. It's not about any restriction of creativity. From time immemorial, artists have created, among other things, and not at the expense of the state, ”the Minister of Culture explained.
He also said that the projects financed by the state should be discussed by expert and public councils in the media, on the forums and promised the “maximum openness” of his ministry.
