Maidan: In the Deep Corner of subject compromises

Last Sunday on the Maidan, the traditional, 10th in a row, “Veche” with the participation of music groups and the usual DJs from the opposition Klitschko, Yatsenyuk and Tyagnibok, took place. And on the eve of February 8, the authorities made another unsuccessful attempt to “clear” the Maidan: in the area of ​​about 2000 people of sports appearance, the action was called “for pure Kyiv” captured by the protesters of the Kyiv city administration. Eyewitnesses assure that they were decorated with by St. George ribbons (here they are called “Colorado”) “Fighters for cleanliness” went down from the Mariinsky Park (from the so -called anti -Maidan), the journalists managed to shoot the distribution of money, and the woman who issued the salary was not for the first time. Both shares - both the Maidan and Antimaydanovskaya - looked, in a certain sense, routinely. The Maidan demonstrated that it is functioning in the usual mode, and the authorities, in general, also “scrolled the budget”, as usual, was idle: not a single barricade was injured and paid for the “orderlies of Kyiv” in the end, were photographed by the remnants of the monument to Lenin.

The real fate of the Maidan was decided on Thursday, February 6, when Viktor Yanukovych met with the assistant Secretary of State on Europe and Eurasia Victoria Nuland. The presidential presidential presidential presidency was about the negotiations of the authorities and the opposition, about possible compromises and, mainly, about the release of detainees during mass shares. Meanwhile, in Kyiv they are more and more talking about the abduction of people, not on the Maidan, but simply on city streets. At the same time, the main version: the authorities need “hostages” for this kind of negotiations and since Yanukovych promises Nuland “to compromise”, then thus create a “subject for compromise”. However, the Maidan has its own “subjects for compromise”-the notorious “admin buildings” captured in December-January. It seems that in the near future the exchange of this kind of compromise will occur (has already begun to occur).

Another key issue in these negotiations was the possible support of Ukraine by the United States and the IMF. Victoria Nuland made it clear that we solve the issue of support only if political reforms. Probably, that constitutional reform (return to the 2004 constitution) was meant, according to which Ukraine becomes a parliamentary and presidential republic. It is characteristic that this idea “went to the masses” - ten years ago it looked quite speculative, and therefore, therefore, the “exit” from the constitutional field passed then imperceptibly and painlessly. Today, passengers of minibuses and supermarket guards are arguing about the advantages of a parliamentary republic to the presidential. At the same time, the opposition during the negotiations is trying to reform and take away the full power of Yanukovych in the coming months, and the regionals insist on creating a constitutional commission and hope to delay the process at least until the fall.

A little more clarity in the issue of the formation of a new government: the opposition is “pronounced” by Arsenia Yatsenyuk with a joint efforts, and the authorities hoped for the passage of Andrei Klyuyev. But it is unlikely that the Maidan “worships” Klyuyev, rather in the contrast, Yatsenyuk will “accept”.

But in general, in Kyiv, they are increasingly talking about the “deaf angle” of peaceful protests, about the “party of war” with its provocative “plums” (the last sensational is the appearance on the Internet of the record of the telephone conversation of Victoria Nuland with the US ambassador to Ukraine, Jeffrey Payette). And finally, the Maidan demanded the presence of his representatives in negotiations between the opposition and the authorities. In particular, on behalf of the “Afghans of the Maidan”, Igor Ivzhenko stated this: “We do not want to interfere with negotiations and do not pull the blanket. But we insist that the representative of the Afghans participate in negotiations - at least just as an observer. So that we receive information from first -hand. Just to hear and see. I think this is a logical requirement, since it is obvious that negotiations are delayed. And on the Maidan, thousands of people gathered, who did not want to calmly put up with the arbitrariness and collapse of the state. ”
