St. Petersburg Anarchist Levkin sentenced to four years in general regime

Judge of the Leninsky District Court of St. Petersburg Irina Ezhvertina sentenced an anarchist student Denis Levkin, defender of Packgauz, Warsaw Station, by four years of general regime. It is reported by Fontanka.ru.

Levkin was found guilty under part 2 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code (the application of dangerous violence to a representative of the authorities), which provides for up to 10 years of the colony. In the verdict, Eijvertina noted that the appointment of a conditional term would not have reached the goal of punishment. As Runews24 clarifies , the prosecutor requested four and a half years of general regime for the activist.

The verdict was based on the testimony of six police officers, including the head of the police of the Admiralty district.

Activist’s lawyer Gleb Lavrentiev called the decision of Aihvertina inhuman and unfair, and the police testimony described as false. He stated that he would seek the cancellation of the sentence. During the process, Lavrentiev paid special attention to the details of the identification of a person who beat law enforcement officers.

Levkin is 21 years old. He was a student of the lyceum at large. At the beginning of 2013, the activist took part in the defense of the Pakgauz of the Warsaw Station - a historical monument, which was threatened with demolition. In January 2013, the city defenders captured the building and arranged a squat in it. On the evening of February 4, police officers, including riot police, began to expel activists . In the course of clashes, law enforcement officers, stated, received bodily harm.

About 20 city defenders were detained according to administrative articles, and Levkin was charged with the 318th article of the Criminal Code. On February 7, the court sent an activist to a pre -trial detention center . In the TFR it was stated that Levkin "caused the senior sergeant and the warrant officer of the police closed head injuries, bruised and torn heads of the head."
