The weather was warned about the upcoming change in the weather in a specialized center for hydrometeorology and monitoring of the environment of the Black and Azov Seas.

The athletes performing in a mountain cluster was not particularly pleased, unlike vacationers on the coast, since the snow melted and the quality of the tracks worsened. This was possible thanks to the "February windows" that occur with a frequency of four to five years, RIA Novosti clarifies.

Already in the next day or two, the air temperature in Sochi will decrease significantly, small precipitation is possible. Forecasters warn that in February in this region the weather is extremely unstable, and once every three to four years abundant snowfalls occur when more than 50 millimeters of snow falls in 10 days.

"The combination of dry and warm weather is even less common, such as this year, this happens no more than once every 20-25 years," the message says.

Over the first half of February, the extreme values ​​of meteo -parameters were not exceeded, although in the middle of the week the air warmed up to 10 degrees of heat. The American skier Bill Demon, the gold medalist of the Olympics in Vancouver, complained that the snow resembled a “fur lining”, the Vedomosti writes, and the other American biathlor, Taylor Fletcher, said that the track was in some places mud.

In order to maintain snow cover, snow was treated with a special mixture that does not melt at plus temperature, and a chemical solution with salt, which did not cause special delight among athletes.

But the fans took advantage of warm days in order to lie down between the competitions on pebbles and swim in the sea, the Channel One reports.
