The theme of the International Festival of Cinematographic Debuts “The Spirit of Fire”, which will be held in Khanty-Mansiysk from February 28 to March 6, will be “Man and Oil”.

“The theme of the film festival is“ man and oil ”, which is understandable for our region, the development of which hundreds of thousands of people of several generations took part in the development of this world mission that went to the region,” the governor of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug Natalya Komarova said at a press conference in Moscow on Monday, RIA Novosti reports.

“What role did oil play in the life of every person, state and planet is an important and substantial conversation that we will try to hold this year, including with the help of cinema,” Komarova said.

The jury of the international competition, chaired by director Andrei Smirnov: actress on Jenhua (PRC), director Janosh SAS (Hungary), actress Jennifer Lim (Great Britain) and operator Akasu Di Almeida (Portugal).

In the international competition of the festival 11 films, including Parajanov, Serge Aedikyan and Elena Fetisova, “Leningrad” by Igor Vishnevetsky, “11.6” by Philippe Godo. The competition of Russian debuts included the “three musketeers” by Sergey Zhigunov, “give the ends” of Taisiya Igumentseva, the “country of good children” of Olga Captures and seven more films.

The festival out-of-competition programs will show Martin Scorsese Wolf with Wall Street, “Cohen brothers,“ Geographer Davis, ”Alexander Veledinsky,“ Long live Antipodes! ” Viktor Kosakovsky, "Weekend" Stanislav Govorukhin.
