© Tolstoy.ru Andrey Nikolaev. Salon Anna Pavlovna Sherer. Illustration to the novel "War and Peace." 1969–1970On the site dedicated to the life and work of Leo Tolstoy, the draft editions and variants of the novel “War and Peace” will be published.
According to Lenta.ru , the materials will appear on the Tolstoy.ru website as part of the project “The whole Tolstoy in one click”.
For this, 13, 14 and 15 volumes of the 90-volume collected works of Tolstoy (Goslitizdat, 1928–1958) were digitized, which contain draft editions. They make it possible to trace the history of the appearance and development of the characters of the novel, as well as find out which scenes were cut out of the latest edition.
In particular, the site can be found with different options for the beginning of “War and Peace”. It is known that Tolstoy copied it 15 times and worked on it for more than a year. Only the 13th option seemed satisfactory to the author, and he gave it for correspondence. In the 14th version, he rejected the historical introduction, and in the 15th, the salon of Anna Pavlovna Sherer appeared (in the draft she was called Annete D. Freilina).
Tom with draft versions of “War and Peace” will appear on the Tolstoy.ru website on Wednesday, February 19. Previously, 18 and 19 volumes of collected works were posted there, which contain different options for Anna Karenina.
Tolstoy.ru began to work in September 2013. This is a joint project of ABBYY , the State Museum of Leo Tolstoy and the Yasnaya Polyana museum. In addition to the 90-volume of the writer, the site also publishes information about his life and creativity, a geographical map with “Tolstoy” places and rare media files.
