The 1980 Moscow Olympiad forever remained in the history of Afghanistan overshadowed by the Soviet occupation, a boycott and collapse of the discharge of tension. Yes, in the days of the games themselves, the fans enjoyed the spirit of competitions and cried when the Olympic Bear flew into the unknown. But the story is inexorable. She remembers not to the bear, but the crippled Afghan children, the the fate of thousands of Soviet soldiers and the Olympic stadiums empty on the day of farewell to Vladimir Vysotsky.
The Sochi Olympics shared the fate of Moscow. Yes, today they still have not forgotten the anachronous ceremony of its opening, they will discuss the closure and defeat of the hockey team. But in history, the Sochi Olympics will remain only an ridiculous background for the funeral of the victims of the Kyiv tragedy, an illustration of the Maidan, which will be recalled as the beginning of the grandiose transformation processes throughout the post -Soviet space.
Vladimir Putin, of course, wanted not this. Like a self -propelled master, in whose estate the circus arrived, he sought to enjoy an expensive performance - and at the same time show himself as his main participant. But Ukraine, even during the sporting holiday, remained a much more important problem for the Russian president than hockey or figure skating. Ukraine with its Maidan literally poisoned every moment of the existence of man who convinced himself that the world is what he sees in the flattened mirror of Dmitry Kiselev, and people are freaks from Kunstkamers, whom he will never meet. And if the freak somehow miraculously got out of his refuge and began to shout “gate”, then you need to drive him back in any way, where he does not bother anyone and can live his meaningless life in the shadow of imperial banners and television clinics.
And Putin decided that calm for him is more important than the holiday. And if this calm is not given by itself, then you just need to buy it - because everything is in this world, even conscience, though honor, is sold and bought for money. With a promise of $ 15 billion, he has already bought the future of the whole country, forever, as it seemed to him, turning its inhabitants into subjects of his new vassal. But since obedience has not yet developed, he began to buy calm in parts. First - 3 billion, evaporated in the Dnieper fogs. Now - two, but these are so simply not evaporated. And if there is a desire to put on them a paw sweated from the tension of recent months - it in the blood.
So the first Olympiad in the history of the Russian Federation on its land became games that coincided with murders and funerals. So the news from Sochi turned out to be squeezed in the programs of world television channels with dramatic personnel from Kyiv. But this was not a coincidence. It was a carefully planned operation to intimidate and destroy, which were simply afraid - or could not - to finish.
On the eve of the Olympiad, many observers said that Putin would “deal” with Ukraine after his holiday, that now he is not to a neighboring country. But they underestimated Putin. What Putin really wanted is calm after the games. That is, so that at the time of their closure there is no Maidan. And not that he could not imagine that this was a calm, for which it was decided to lay out two billion, could be accompanied by rivers of blood. He just did not think about it, just the price of human life is nothing compared to the tart smell of victory. Recall "Nord-Ost". Recall Beslan.
The only thing he really does not understand is that we are all people and for us more important than any sports triumph. And that the news from the burning, blocked, but not surrendering to the evil of Kyiv will still be for anyone, in whom there is at least something human, more important than sports. And most importantly - they will be more important for the future.
And in this future, when they begin to recall the Maidan, they will never remember the Olympics. And when they recall the Olympics, the Maidan will certainly come to memory, explosions, shelling and a string of coffins along the Kyiv streets, the last campaign of victims of a fratricidal war, unleashed just when there were games of the world.
