
The Verkhovna Rada adopted a law that allows ex-prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko. According to UNIAN, for the Law "On Amendments to the Criminal and Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine regarding the implementation to the national legislation of the provisions of Article 19 of the UN Convention against Corruption" 310 deputies of 365 meetings registered in the hall.
Tymoshenko’s lawyer Sergei Vlasenko explained that we are talking about the abolition of the provisions by which the ex-Prime Minister was convicted. "Now Yulia Tymoshenko should be released by a court decision," Vlasenko said.
Tymoshenko has been in conclusion since 2011 on charges of abuse of powers when concluding gas agreements with Russia. Since May 2012, it has been detained in the Kharkov Hospital "Capital" in connection with the disease of the spine. With regard to the ex-Prime Minister, a number of other cases are being investigated. She herself rejects all the accusations against her, stating that the authorities were pursuing her for political reasons.
On November 25, Tymoshenko announced a hunger strike , protesting against the interruption of the country's authorities signing an integration agreement with the European Union. However, on December 7, she removed the hunger strike at the request of Euromaidan activists . On December 15, Participants of the People’s Act in Kiev demanded to free Tymoshenko among all other political prisoners.
On Thursday, Tymoshenko opposed any negotiations with President Viktor Yankukovych, assigning him responsibility for the death of people in Kyiv. She called on the leaders of the opposition to seek a lawsuit against Yanukovych to the International Criminal Court in the Hague.
