For the law “On Amendments to the Criminal and Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine regarding the implementation of the UN Convention“ On Corruption ”, 310 deputies voted in the national legislation of Article No. 19 of the UN Convention. In fact, he decriminalizes the article on which Tymoshenko is serving his sentence. The adoption of the law in the Rada was met with exclamations: "Julia will!"

In October 2011, Tymoshenko was sentenced to seven years in the case of exceeding official powers when concluding gas contracts with Russia.
