The United States may lift visa sanctions on Ukrainian officials it believes are responsible for using force against protesters, State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf told reporters.

Earlier, a senior State Department official, whose name was not given, told journalists that the sanctions were reversible. According to her, the entry ban affected about 20 Ukrainian officials whom the US considers guilty of using violence.

"These sanctions can be lifted if the situation improves. They are reversible. If the situation worsens, we have a full range of tools to respond," Harf said.

The day before, the Verkhovna Rada resolution on the ceasefire and end of anti-terrorist measures on the territory of Ukraine came into force. In accordance with it, all law enforcement officers had to return to their permanent locations.

On Friday, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and opposition leaders signed an agreement to resolve the crisis in Ukraine that calls for a return to the 2004 constitution, the formation of a government of national unity and early presidential elections by the end of this year.
