Christie's will sell hundreds of drawings of old masters

The collection of Professor Van Regern Altena - the world's largest private collection of drawings of old masters - is put up for auction of the auction house Christie's. The collection has more than 800 works, including the works of Rubens, Rembrandt, Goltsius and de Gane.

According to Christie's , their total value is about $ 17 million, ITAR-TASS reports.

The first part of the collection, which included more than 70 drawings of Dutch and Flemish artists of the Renaissance and the Golden Age, will be put up for sale on July 10.

The list of top-lots is headed by Samson and Dalila Rubens-the only sketch that has survived to the present day to the meeting of the London National Gallery of the same name 1609-1610. Its estimated cost is $ 2.5–4 million.

Rembrandt’s drawing “A young man leaning on a stick” ($ 416–582 thousand) and “Hand sketch” of Goltsius ($ 500-833 thousand) will also be put up at the auction.

In addition to the July bidding in London, work from the Van Regeret’s collection of Altens will be exhibited at three other auctions: the second and fourth parts dedicated to the work of Dutch and Flemish artists will be sold in Amsterdam in December 2014 and in May 2015, and the third part, consisting of French and Italian drawings, will leave the hammer in Paris in Paris in March 2015 years.
