By 2019, Kazakhstan will produce 200 thousand cars per year

The devaluation of the national currency carried out in Kazakhstan will lead to a slowdown in the growth of the auto industry in the country, and “we should not expect the same adequate growth as was the case in the past two years this year,” Albert Rau, Vice Minister of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic, said on Monday .

However, the Kazakh automobile industry still plans to increase car production to 100 thousand cars per year by 2017, and by 2019 to increase this volume to 200 thousand. “I stipulate that this will really be production,” Rau said, noting that in order to achieve this, the state intends to support exports, without which it will be difficult to achieve these indicators.

According to the First Vice-Minister, the key tasks of the automobile industry in the second five-year plan are the launch of projects and the attraction of major players, the Novosti-Kazakhstan agency reports. “Today we are working with them. And, naturally, support for exports, since it will be very difficult to reach this volume of production in the automobile industry without exports,” Rau added.

At the moment, the ministry has identified three sites for the development of the automotive industry - Kustanay, Vostok and Almaty region. “The Almaty region is home to Hyundai commercial buses. There are large exports to Belarus, and we hope that this year there will be large exports to Russia,” Rau said. The Asia Auto plant is already operating in eastern Kazakhstan. Construction is currently underway on a plant of the Avtovaz-Renault-Nissan alliance, which will produce 120 thousand cars annually. In Kustanay there are painting capacities for 75 thousand cars, and welding capacities for 25 thousand cars, recalls Vlast.kz .

In addition, Kazakhstan plans to introduce a program for the recycling of cars and their parts, which will be carried out gradually.

The state will also support the export of electric and diesel locomotives assembled in Kazakhstan.
