The Petersburger with the Finnish surname Malinen at home writes a spiritual indie-filter, playing on his own on almost all instruments. Recently, he had a “Shangri-LA” record, on which, in an union, a bright and cloudless attitude met with adult professionalism. For her, Malinen used the wind and string sections and even the children's choir.

“I went to the choir for a very long time, the piano, guitar began to study there - but it is difficult to call this education,” says Anton Malinen. - I studied at the Faculty of Information Technology at the Institute of Culture, I wanted to enter the sound engineering at the University of Cinema and Television. But there was a music school, so they would not have taken me. Yes, I myself do not regret that I have not hit - it is better to study in the West. "

In a conversation, Malinen finds himself just as you imagine the author of light songs with Shangri-LA -an ingenuous, slightly shy person who, in principle, unusual for something long to regret. “Shangri-La” -his second album, the author worked on it for almost a year-the thing is completely unhealthy: in the St. Petersburg climate, such sun-loving plants seem to not survive. Malinena is alien to both existential anxieties, and the inescapable Veltshmerts and a tear. His songs with their insinuating guitar bustards, the touches of Glockenshpil and a quivering ukolel are undemanding and comfortable that the notorious Norwegian sweater with deer. He talks about the record simply and everyday.

“Everything that is possible, I recorded at home - guitars, string ... Only shock and children's choir in one song had to write with a friend at a project studio. Musicians are all good friends. I generally found “Strunnikov” “VKontakte”: I looked at the groups, walked along the pages, sent information and suggested playing. After we all rehearsed, two girls - an altist and cellist - merged right in front of the concert. I had to quickly look for two more people. We have no financial agreements. If we earn something at the concert, we divide equally. If not, then everyone plays for free. Now we will shoot videos in the studio on the gallery, where there will be as many as nine “strings” - a whole orchestra. ”

The choir was recorded in the same way - on an honest word and good organizational abilities. “It’s just that the leader and I are friends - since I went to study. A woman is 75 years old, but she is more cheerful to me. So I was allocated 15 children without problems - it was only necessary to organize them so that everyone concentrated, no one in the nose picks. They really liked how they told me. "

Malinen’s main work is also connected with music - he is engaged in sound engineering on freelance. He worked with the Yankovsky private theater, in the company that makes the sound to various concert venues of the city. Arranges to order - recently wrote parties for the anthem of one of the kindergartens in Moscow. “One familiar musician did not have time due to some life circumstances-well, he asked me: he gave the text, the melody, asked to“ do beautifully ”. The educators and nannies listened with tenderness - so it seemed to work. ”

With such a thorough attitude to the music itself, you expect some kind of self-proportion strategy-however, Malinen does not have ambitious plans to conquer the West or even Russian clubs. “To me, the guys who are trying to make the Russian version of the New Musical Express are still offered to play in Estonia, there is one large festival, where Motoramam found a label for themselves ... Tallinn Music Week ? Well, you see, you yourself know everything better. ”

The date of the Moscow premiere "Shangri-LA" has not yet been defined. In St. Petersburg, the new material will be presented on March 1 at the Erarta Museum. Malinen intends to tour of the composition of four people - so in all details it will be possible to evaluate his music only at concerts in his hometown.
