Yesterday, February 26, some of the Ukrainians in the West spoke Russian all day, and the same part of the people in the east was in Ukrainian . Lviv activists, reports the publication 032.ua , invited the residents of Lviv on February 26 to speak Russian "at home, at work, in transport, with friends." A number of Western and East Ukrainian newspapers, as well as the “5 channel” , which announced the appearance of Russian-speaking news issues in the broadcast of Russian-speaking news, connected to the action. On February 25, the Lviv intelligentsia published a letter to the Verkhovna Rada: "We must respect the cultural and linguistic needs of the inhabitants of the East and South so that they do not feel strangers in Ukraine." On the same day, the Lviv publishing house “Vidavnitsy of the Old Leva” stated that for the first time in its history it would release a book in Russian - “speculation on the language issue” prompted them to this.
The “speculation” is called the abolition on February 23 by the Verkhovna Rada of the Law of 2012 “On State Language Policy”, which in Russia is understood somewhat simplified-as “all Russians will be forced to talk in Ukrainian”.
The Ukrainian question is the most massive camming out of Russian liberalism.
The action of solidarity/protest was, of course, symbolic in nature and proceeded in social networks. Many people on this day really tried to speak the “language of another” - a purely humanitarian action, which can cause nothing but approval in an intelligent person.
At the same time, I met an amazing reaction of bloggers, whose idea of freedom ends where the freedom of the Ukrainian begins. As we have already seen, the Ukrainian question is the most massive camming out of Russian liberalism. In a clash with Ukrainian statehood, many Russian liberals are solidarized with Russian nationalists and militarists - at that moment such a “symphony” that Nikita Mikhalkov could not even dream of. Its size is comparable only with the attitude to the migrant question, the alignment there is the same - there is a well -known symbolism in this. These people wrote in the comments on the Ukrainian action "they realized late" and "you can’t convince us." Although, to be honest, this action was still designed not so much for the inhabitants of the Russian Federation as for the Russian-speaking inhabitants of the southern and eastern regions of Ukraine.
Many are now expecting from Ukraine what is called “more hell,” they crave “schism”, want to confirm that Ukraine has not grown to freedom; They catch any news about vandalism. And, we will be frank - many are waiting for news about pogroms, so that then with a clear conscience to say: here, we told you.
Meanwhile, on top of the “ordinary” revolution in Ukraine, all these three months, another: a change of generations, well, to make it clear - a generation of Ukrainian hipsters entered a conscious life. They are more like their brothers in Russia than the previous generation - they are children of Facebook and Twitter, one, universal and unified culture. It was the Ukrainian hipsters who declared themselves in November 2013, when they drove a local old -school nationalist from the scene of the Lviv Maidan - for which he called them jerks. Then the wonderful texts of the “jerks” came out on this occasion, where it was explained in access that the desire of the “death of the Vorogs” was no longer included in their plans and much better to go to Paris or London for a week. And also - that the reluctance of death does not at all abolish patriotism and love for the homeland.
It was a cultural conflict, very interesting and important - for Lviv it meant a change of milestones, a step forward. It was a fixation of the confrontation between the conditional culture of the "Heroes of the UPA", which confuses with its redundancy in Lviv - and those who wrote on the walls of the Lviv houses "to finish Boti a hero - be a people" ("stop being a hero - be a man"). For Lviv, this was a revelation and a new fashion - in December on the local Maidan, people stood with posters "love Russia, love Ukraine." There was also a series of video features, where residents of other regions that moved to Lviv talked about how they live here. Then all these humanitarian aspects, of course, boldly boldly with the fire of the revolution. But a new moment of identification arose on the Maidan. Not in language and not by blood, but by freedom, if I may say so.
On top of the "ordinary" revolution in Ukraine, all these three months, another.
The law of February 23 struck a strong blow to this fragile human one-translating it into the usual-coming.
This law was adopted by Rada. The very one, the majority in which a week ago belonged to the Party of Regions and which today is most afraid of the Maidan, lustration, and so on. However, the former opposition is afraid of this Maidan no less. After all, the demand of the Maidan is the re -election of the Rada.
Actually, I do not understand the nature of the Maidan. And, having a subconscious idea of the Maidan - almost the same as that of Russian propagandists - Rada adopts a law that, in her opinion, meets the "centuries -old aspirations of nationalists." In their view, the dream of any “Bandera” is to ban the Russian language. Rada, accepting the law, wanted to make pleasant “Ukrainian nationalists” - thereby “reassure the Maidan” and buy an indulgence and legitimacy. Just do not throw us into a thorns bush, dear bourgeois nationalists: we will make you such a light music, such a diskach that you will forget about everything, as if Rada said.
Along the way, I wanted to launch the same plate “more than hell”-to provoke endless disputes about the language again: when the West says “the Russians will not pass”, and the East says “Bandera will not pass”-and everything begins again in the old way, and in such a hell it will be easier to get lost. The same is with a ban on broadcasting of Russian channels. That is, I wanted to return the series "Ukraine, what you love it." But the Maidan paid too expensive for these circles - and he unraveled this trick, and it was this law that will probably be held in the Rada and will bring her re -election. And, I think, the cancellation of the law.
"To finish Boti by a hero - be a people's person."
But it is important that the first “hello” to the Rada this time came not from the east, but from the west. And then again the new humanitarian and social reality showed herself. Among the signed by the letter against “separatism” there is Yuri Shukhevich, the son of the leader of the Bandera movement and the Ukrainian rebel army Roman Shukhevich.
Anton Krasovsky writes on Facebook: “I read the biography of Shukhevich Jr. now. Shalamov is just resting. ” I also read. This man spent ten years in the Stalin camps (in the interval he was taken to identify the father killed in 1950). He sat only because he was the son of Shukhevich. And in the Brezhnev years, he was already sitting as a Soviet dissident. In the camps, he was blind. And this man signed the day before yesterday a letter from the Lviv intelligentsia in defense of the Russian language. His surname is the first there.
This gesture was appreciated in the east - in fact, this proposal to reconciliation and general repentance. I can be blamed for excessive sentimentality (by the way, my grandfather, a teacher of the Russian language, was wounded by the same Bandera after the war). But if we recall the moment of the repentance of the Lviv “Golden Eagle”, which was also led by the priest, in general, it is quite possible that we will still force the discussion and the issue of the UPA.
By the way, Lviv, all these years, was a stably bilingual city: Russian there is the second most popular, because some part of the inhabitants elementary continues to communicate on it. There is also a large Russian -speaking community, children and grandchildren of the Soviet military, engineers, doctors - but also representatives of the “punitive organs”, which is already there. And the next act of reconciliation of the regions should be precisely an open, most frank conversation, including the UPA: with documents, with experts, with the participation of different parties and opinions - to deal with the term “Bandera”. And without discussing this issue, no European integration, I think, is impossible.
A wonderful text has recently been released on the Colt, that Ukraine today resembles a new Middle Ages. And messages about the creation of the “People’s Republic of Donbass” are also such a normal telluria as much more. But on top of this XVI century, the age of XXI still curls with a thin thread-if we take into account, for example, the action of linguistic solidarity. The 16th century, with all respect, is still not capable of this. That is, Ukraine was even more complicated; One culture is superimposed on another, intertwined, and we still have to understand all this, and this is another amazing side of the revolution.
