© Directpress Svyatoslav VakarchukThe concert of the Ukrainian rock band "Ocean Elsa", scheduled for March 31 in the "Ice Palace" in St. Petersburg, was canceled.
“The concert has been canceled for reasons beyond the control of the Ice Palace,” the website said in a message on the website of the sports and concert complex.
Earlier, the deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg Vitaly Milonov proposed to ban the concerts of the Ocean Elsa group, which in March should begin a tour of Russia, recalls RIA Novosti . He also made a proposal to deprive the right to enter the country of the leader of the group of Svyatoslav Vakarchuk because he and the rest of the team adhere to radical views and participated in Euromaidan.
In addition, the leader of the LDPR Vladimir Zhirinovsky proposed to ban the tour in Russia of Ukrainian groups, whose artists, in his opinion, take an anti -Russian position. As examples, he, in particular, cited the singer Ruslan and the “Elsa Ocean”.
Svyatoslav Vakarchuk responded to accusations of nationalism on his blog: “Who do you consider a nationalist? If the one whose beloved writer Chekhov is a nationalist. If the one whose first beloved song was "shining an unfamiliar star" - then I am also a nationalist. If the one who has been met with a girl of Jewish blood for 5 years, then yes, I am a nationalist. If the one who sings in a group in which two Serbs and one half Russian, half Tatar - then yes, I, of course, are a nationalist. ... If the one who loves St. Petersburg as his hometown, then again I am a nationalist. ”
On February 26, Vakarchuk joined the action , within the framework of which Ukrainians in the West spoke all day only in Russian, and in the east-only in Ukrainian. “I grew up in Lviv. My native language is Ukrainian. But today I will talk in Russian. Sincerely. East and West are one whole, ”the musician wrote .
