Kuyurator Yang Hut died

On Thursday, February 27, at the age of 77, the Belgian curator Yang Hut, founder of the City Museum of Contemporary Art of Genta (Stedelijk Museum Voor Actuele Kunst, SMAK).

Yang Hut was born in Leven in 1936, organized a number of important exhibitions in different countries of the world, was the curator of Documenta IX in Kassel (1992).

In his homeland, he, in particular, organized the exhibition “Chambres d'Amis” - dozens of famous artists created works specifically for it - as well as “Over the Edges” , which became the whole city of Gent.

In 1999, Yang Hut founded the city Museum of Contemporary Art of Genta and until 2003 was its curator, in the 2000s he headed the Marta Museum of Modern Art in Germany.

Jan Hut was dedicated to the knights of the Order of the Arts and Literature of the French Republic. In 2000, he was elevated to the rank of knight King Belgium Albert II.
