Zhadan and Putin

On the morning of Saturday, I thought that I had to go to Kharkov, to Zhadan. Seryozha, the main poet of Ukraine, stood on the side of the Kharkov Maidan all these days and flaunted in full, as it is written in his collection “Firearms and Knife”. This is the best poetic book of Ukraine last year. Large poets are prone to unmotivated prophecies. I waited for everything to calm down. We would have sat down with his publisher Zelev Babloyan (another member of the Maidan) in one of the Kharkov book clubs, where they do not make the difference between Russian and Ukrainian, English and Polish, and we would talk about the new Ukraine, that Ukraine, Europe and Russia would have laughed at the stupidity of the Rada with its language law, would discuss creative plans. My native Voronezh region borders on Kharkov, and we and the new rector of the Voronezh Academy of Arts Eduard Boyakov, the founding father of the Golden Mask, wanted to talk with the Kharkiv people about the joint festival of contemporary art. These were autumn plans. A week ago, the governor of the Voronezh region, Alexander Gordeev, managed to go to Kharkov to meet with Yanukovych's supporters. And at lunch, I read that Zhadan was brutally beaten during the dispersal of the Kharkov Maidan. And that the Russian military entered the country. The head of the head is blocked.

All my Ukrainian friends supported the Maidan and were his activists - in Kiev, Lviv, Odessa, Kharkov. These are not the most stupid or irresponsible people. These are writers, architects, artists, publishers, curators of art programs, journalists, doctors. I know for sure that Ukraine is proud of them, writers, Yuri Andrhovich and Andrei Kurkov, artist Alexander Roitburg and mockingrs-mothershopers Lesem Zelevyansky and Vladimir “Adolfych” Nesterenko. I cannot but trust their instinct, and I am proud of them: for their beliefs, they were not afraid to go under the batons and gas. I do not want them to stand under Russian bullets tomorrow. Therefore, I despise the actions of Vladimir Putin, formally - the Russian president, and in fact - the head of the occupation government, who took Russia with deception and is now trying to occupy Ukraine. I despise the actions of the Federation Council and Russian generals.

And Putin? He unleashed an imperial hysteria campaign, he unequivocally wants the Great Empire in the framework of the Old Soviet, his media opened an information war against Ukraine, as in 2008 against Georgia. The worst thing is like in the incident of the German people - the Russian people, judging by sociological surveys and Holivar in social networks, are delighted with the actions of their president. People are not embarrassed to write that they were obviously always hated by their Ukrainian comrades, but this became clear only now. The average Russian people are confident that the interests of Russia in Crimea and in eastern Ukraine need military intervention . This people from the sofa advised Ukrainians for three months how to behave. Nothing but the pain and breakdown of human relations, such tips can be brought. Now Ukrainians will have a new real pain from Russian intervention. They have not yet begun to recover after the Kyiv snipers on February 20, they are only trying to see their future, which may well not see after the Russian invasion. But why the Russians are ready to play a joint crowd for their phantom imperial pains, I do not understand and do not want to understand. I watched the same reaction in August 2008 when the Kremlin attacked Georgia. I cannot regret the madmen and dumbasses who see their psychological well -being at the cost of blood in another country. I do not believe in geopolitical interests, this is an outdated concept. As a former doctor (former among us does not happen), I am only interested in the scale of the humanitarian disaster. In my professional medical view, it is already too great for Ukraine. Ukraine cannot be the second Yugoslavia, Ukraine does not want to break up, it does not have a Miloshevich dictator. Leave Ukraine alone. This is already 23 years a stranger country, and its independence should be respected.

And yes, this can be the beginning of monstrous bloodshed. But I still hope to drink with Zhadan in Kharkov.
