Despite the decrease in the market share, Apple remains the largest manufacturer of tablet computers in the world with a 36%market share. The second place is occupied by Samsung, the sales of tablets of which amounted to 37.4 million pieces in 2013, and the share in the market increased to 19.1% from 7.4% a year earlier. Apple and Samsung follow the ASUS company (sales at the level of 11 million devices and market share 5.6%), Amazon (9.4 million devices and 4.8%of the market) and Lenovo (6.5 million tablets and a share of 3.3%).
According to the company's analysts, the tablet market in 2013 grew due to inexpensive models with a small diagonal of the screen, while for most users this was the first purchase of a similar device. In developing markets, tablet sales increased by 145%per year, while in developed markets growth was 31%.
In 2013, the tablets amounted to about 90% of the wider market for ultra -mobility devices, which also includes hybrid and folding models. The total sales of this category of equipment increased by 68% compared to the level of 2012 and amounted to 216 million pieces.
