The translator Mark Freudkin died

Today, March 4, in Moscow, at the age of 60, the translator, writer, poet and singer Mark Freudkin died.

Mark Iekhielievich Freudkin was born in 1953, translated English (Ben Johnson, Robert Burns, Charles Lam, Hilere Belllock, Thomas Hardy, Ezra Pound, Roald Dahl, Edward Lear) and French (Mallarm, Jarry, Roussel, Brassens) Poetry.

He led the Carte Blanche Publishing House, which in the early 1990s issued several important books, including Olga Sedakova's capital “Favorites”. He was the director and owner of the first private bookstore “October 19” in Moscow.

Mark Freudkin published several books of prose, in the fall of 2012 his collected works in three volumes (Prose, Poems and Songs, Translations) were published.

For several decades, Mark Freudkin wrote songs - both his own and into other people's poems, in addition, translated Georges Brassens into the Russian texts of the songs of Georges. He released six albums, repeatedly concerts in Germany, the USA, France and Israel.
