Ukrainian Permanent Representative to the UN: the USSR sang Bandera and his associates

The permanent representative of Ukraine at the UN Yuri Sergeev, in an interview with journalists, expressed the opinion that the accusations of the Soviet Union against the Ukrainian nationalists in the Nuremberg process were falsified, ITAR-TASS reports.

“The Russian-Soviet side at that time tried to put pressure on Western allies so that they recognize Bandera and other killers. Why didn't the Nuremberg process recognize this? Because the facts were falsified, because the position of the Soviet Union at that time was unfair, ”said the Permanent Representative.

During World War II, Stepan Bandera and his organization of Ukrainian nationalists advocated the creation of an independent Ukrainian state and were ready to cooperate with Hitler’s troops to fight against the USSR. Soviet historians called Bandera a fascist and collaborator.

Sergeev also called not to call all the inhabitants of Western Ukraine the “Nazis” and “Bandera”, saying that “normal European citizens” live there. He said the same thing about the Freedom party, which is considered ultra -right.
