Yandex will compete for Khabarovsk

The company "Yandex" intends to appeal the decision of the Khabarovsk court to block access to the most popular Russian search engine.

The decision of the Central District Court of Khabarovsk, obliging the local branch of Rostelecom to block access to Yandex, Wikipedia and KinoPoisk, entered into force today, March 5.

The local prosecutor’s office turned to the court due to the fact that on the pages of these resources there were links to the materials prohibited in Russia, in particular, Yandex made it possible to find out where to download the film “Eternal Jew” (the link could be found through the Kinopoisk website).

“We learned about the existence of this court decision only today. Neither the prosecutor’s office nor other authorized bodies were addressed to us in the process of consideration of this case, ”Yandex Katya Karnaukhova, Echo of the Media Media Manager, quoted “ Echo of Mos. ” .

She also explained that in the court decision there are links to the pages of Yandex and Kinopoiska, where the film “Eternal Jew” is supposedly posted, while in the first case ( yandex.ru/video/search?text= ) we are talking about an empty search query, and in the second ( kinopoisk.ru/film/79500 ) - about the page of Description of the film.

“At the moment, our lawyers are studying the possibility of appealing this decision in court on the basis that neither Yandex, nor Kinopoisk, the largest database of films, directors and actors, were involved in participation in this case, although this resolution clearly affects their rights and legitimate interests,” Karnakhova said.
