Gaskarov extended the term of arrest until the end of April

On Wednesday, the Moscow City Court recognized the extension of the term of arrest to Alexei Gaskarov, accused of participating in the riots on Bolotnaya Square on May 6, 2012, RAPSI reports legal.

Thus, the court rejected the appeal of his lawyer Svetlana Sidorkina, who insisted on a milder extent. The defender indicated that at present the investigation in the case was completed and its client got acquainted with all the materials of the case, which deprives him of the opportunity to put pressure on the course of the investigation. “The main evidence base is video recordings. They are objective evidence that cannot be influenced,” the lawyer added.

“Unlike all other accused, my client gave complete exhaustive testimonies, although it does not plead guilty,” Sidorkina emphasized.

Gaskarov is accused of participating in the riots and the use of violence against a representative of the authorities, which involves punishment up to eight years in prison. According to the investigation, Gaskarov on Bolotnaya Square in Moscow led a group of persons participating in the riots, and also personally used violence against the police officer. Gaskarov did not plead guilty, but does not deny that he was in protest.

On February 24, Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow appointed seven defendants in the “swamp business” real terms of conclusion from 3 years and 3 months to 4 years of the colony. The eighth defendant - Alexander Dukhanin - was sentenced to a conditional sentence. All defendants are found guilty of the use of violence against police officers. Earlier, several defendants in this case were amnestied.
