Artists demand to postpone the "manifesto"

On the Internet there is a collection of signatures under the appeal of Casper Keniga, curator of the European Biennale of Contemporary Art Manifesta 10, which should take place in St. Petersburg from June 28 to October 31, 2014, demanding to postpone it to the withdrawal of Russian military personnel from the territory of Ukraine.

The initiators of the appeal was a group of artists from Amsterdam and Dusseldorf. In the first three hours, more than a thousand people signed under CHANGE.ORG , including Russian artists Dmitry Vrubel, Sergey Mironenko and Larisa Zvezdechetova.

“We believe that participation in cultural events in Russia at that time means legitimation and consent with the Russian aggression against the democratic state of Ukraine. - The circulation says. “We ask all participating artists, curators, organizers and financing organizations related to Manifesta 10, 2014 , to support this petition as an act of solidarity with the Ukrainian people.”

In August 2013, the State Hermitage concluded a contract with the curator of Manifesta 10 Casper Koenig , according to which the museum will become the main exhibition site of the upcoming Biennale.

This year, Manifesta celebrates its 20th anniversary, and its holding in St. Petersburg will become part of the program of celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Hermitage. The Government of St. Petersburg allocated more than 142 million rubles for Biennale.
