Serdyukov fell under an amnesty

The investigation authorities amnestied the former Minister of Defense Anatoly Serdyukov, Interfax reports with reference to an anonymous source familiar with the situation. According to the interlocutor of the agency, the decision on amnesty in connection with the 20th anniversary of the Constitution was adopted on February 21. Meanwhile, the information that Serdyukov asked for an amnesty was in the media only on February 25. This message was officially not confirmed.

Serdyukov left the post of minister at the end of 2012. The criminal case against him was opened on November 28 last year. According to investigators, when he was the Minister of Defense, he gave an oral order to build a road in the Astrakhan region, supposedly with the aim of being built on the island of the school boarding house for the needs of the department. However, as it turned out, the Zyatya Serdyukov camp site was located there. As a result, the state lost 56 million rubles. The ex-head of the Ministry of Defense does not admit guilt. At the end of February, the media suggested that Serdyukov could fall under an amnesty if he was recognized as a participant in military operations - he was the Minister of Defense during a five -day war in South Ossetia, but did not take part in military operations and was not in the conflict.

It was argued that the investigation has reason to impose to Serdyukov part 2 of article 285 (abuse of authority by a person holding a state position).
