
The authorities of Canada decided to send all the Russian troops in it in the amount of nine people from the country, Lenta.ru reports with reference to the CTV Canadian television channel.
According to the source of the television channel in the government circles of Canada, all Russian servicemen were obliged to leave the country within a day. Six Russian military taught English and French in the province of Quebec, another teaches Canadian colleagues Russian, and two military personnel are trained at the Heajtown military base in the province of New Brahstraik.
The expulsion of Russian troops is carried out against the backdrop of discontent of Ottawa by a decision, which on Thursday adopted the Parliament of Crimea. The deputies voted for the exit of the Autonomous Republic from Ukraine with its subsequent accession to Russia if residents of the region agree with this at the referendum. Canada, along with the United States and the European Union, called the plebiscite planned for March 16 illegitimate.
In turn, Russian parliamentarians did not exclude the possibility of the adoption of Crimea to the country, but noted that they are currently advocated for maintaining the integrity of Ukraine. The State Duma stated that deputies would form the final position on this issue only on the basis of the results of the Crimean referendum.
Canada previously expressed dissatisfaction with Russian politics in Ukraine. In particular, after the Federation Council authorized the commissioning of Russian troops to Ukraine, Ottawa withdrew his ambassador in Moscow for consultations and suspended preparations for the Summit of the Great Eight countries, which should take place in Sochi in June 2014.
In addition, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper on March 5 announced the cessation of all types of military cooperation with the Russian armed forces. In particular, Canada refused to participate in the joint anti -terrorist exercises with the Vigilant Eagle - 2014. Since 2009, these exercises have been held by the air forces of Russia, the USA and Canada.
The Russian authorities made a decision on the possible entry of troops into a neighboring country at the request of the Crimea Parliament, which refused to recognize the legitimacy of the new leadership of Ukraine. At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin explained that the Russian contingent has been introduced only in the event of a direct threat to the life of the Russian -speaking population of Ukraine, which is currently not observed.
In February, the authorities actually occurred in Ukraine - the Verkhovna Rada passed under the control of the opposition and removed from the power of President Viktor Yanukovych. Russia did not recognize the new authorities of Ukraine. In the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, they also refused to recognize the new government in Kyiv. The local parliament, captured by armed people in military uniform without identification marks, appointed the new prime minister of the leader of the Russian Unity movement Sergei Aksenov. He turned to Vladimir Putin with a request for assistance in providing peace on the territory of autonomy, after which most formations of the army and the Ukrainian Navy in the Crimea were blocked by the Russian military.
