The court arrested the "People's Governor" of Donbass

The Shevchenkovsky District Court of Kiev arrested for two months the self-proclaimed "governor" of the Donetsk region Pavel Gubarev, the press service of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine reports . Gubarev was detained in Donetsk on Thursday evening. The special forces found him in a conspiratorial apartment, where he was hiding from law enforcement agencies. They put handcuffs on Gubarev, brought them out of the house and took it on a minibus. Previously, the police released the building of the regional administration captured on Wednesday. About 70 people were detained.

On Wednesday, from one to one and a half thousand people gathered for a rally near the OGA building. Gubarev once again stated that the "people's government" requires a referendum on the status of the Donetsk region. The rally participants broke the lattices on the doors and again entered the empty building . The storming chanted "Berkut!" And "Russia!". The police watched what was happening from the side.

On Monday, participants in the pro -Russian rally already captured the building. However, on Wednesday morning, they were evacuated from there due to a report that the building was mined. Later there they discovered the anti -personnel mine that was taken to the landfill for destruction.

On Monday, the Donetsk Regional Rada decided to hold a referendum on the status of the region. “For” 98 deputies voted, three opposed, and the three abstained. Earlier, a new speaker was elected at the session of the Rada. It was ex-governor Andrei Shishatsky, recently dismissed by the new central authorities. The former speaker, Andrei Fedoruk, did not appear at the session; Through his deputy, he handed over a resignation to his colleagues.

At a meeting on Monday, it was supposed to present to the deputies of the new governor of the region appointed in Kyiv - Sergey Taruta. However, Gubarev tore off this plan. Speaking in the Rada, where he was personally brought by the head of the regional Internal Affairs Directorate Roman Romanov, Gubarev demanded that he be recognized as the head of the region himself. According to the "People's Governor", 800 thousand signatures were collected for his candidacy for the post of head of the region. Along with this, Gubarev demanded that the regional referendum recognize the self -proclaimed government of Crimea legitimate, to dismiss Romanov, as well as the prosecutor of the region and other officials appointed by Kiev, to eliminate the State Certificate and refuse to transfer to the national budget.

The deputies voted for the referendum to reduce the intensity of passions. The regional administration gathered several hundred aggressively tuned supporters of Gubarev. Despite the decision on the referendum, the Gubarevites took the administration storm and occupied two of its lower floors.
