And most importantly - what to bargain about? On the recognition of the purely Nazi Anschlus Crimea in response to the refusal of the intention to move the troops to Kyiv? Or at least the rejection of international sanctions against Russia?

After the Second World War, there were many successful separatist movements that sought the separation of part of its territory from the state and the formation of a new independent state on it. Separatism, of course, puses a threat to the stability of international relations, so the world community does not like it, but the separatist states, as a rule, ultimately recognizes it. Sometimes after decades.

The world community is much more rigidly relate to the rejection of part of the state by another state. The entire system of post -war international relations is based on the principle of the impossibility and inadmissibility of any annexes and ANSHLUSS. And this principle is observed not only formally, but also in fact. An attempt by Iraq to annex Kuwait was suppressed, an attempt to annexate East Timor failed. This principle acts even when separatism is at a real desire for a divided people to reunite. Nagorny Karabakh did not reunite with Armenia, Kosovo did not reunite with Albania. Having initiated the Anschlus of Crimea and raising a muddy wave of chauvinistic hysteria in Russia, Putin can no longer play back for domestic political reasons. This would be perceived as betrayal by all its supporters. But Anschlus is such a serious challenge to the entire system of international relations that in the end, even lazy and cowardly European euroberacle will make you go to sanctions. Of course, no one, of course, will expel from the Crimea "green men" with the help of NATO troops. Well, no one was going to do this even to Putin’s threats to invade continental Ukraine. So what additional position for Trading did Putin get as a result of his ingenious moves?

I recognize the right of Crimea to self -determination in the same way as I recognize the right to self -determination of Chechnya and Nagorno -Karabakh. That's just the separatists in the Crimea are somehow strange. Separatists, striving for international recognition of the right of their territory to self -determination, are very concerned about their image. They try to demonstrate democracy, goodwill, openness to dialogue, a willingness to solve the case by negotiations and compromise. And only if they are refused this, they proceed to one -sided actions. They try to avoid the use of force first. They love international observers and foreign correspondents very much.

Both Gubarev in Donetsk and Aksenov in Crimea act in the exact opposite way. No negotiations, no compromises. Even no requirements. There is nothing to talk about and with anyone. In fact, their goal is not to achieve any rights for the population of these territories, but to provoke the response force actions of the opposite side, to rekindize mutual enmity and hatred, to cause bloody chaos. Hatred, and not sympathy for the Russians in the Crimea and in Ukraine, moves the deputies, senators and passage demonstrators in Russia raging in the chauvinistic hysteria. Hatred for everyone who wants to live differently, who dare to "" we "cannot obey. And the Russians in the Crimea so far do not need sympathy. Nothing threatens them. They will need to sympathize with them later. When the Russian raiders begin to “squeeze” the business at the local lads, when the best lands will be captured under their villas and palaces, when all places of rest will be turned into elite reserves with appropriate prices, and a lot of people who lived inexpensive services to vacationers from the “common people” will lose their earnings - then the Russian Crimeans can be sympathized.
