The TSN (Television News Service) information program of the 1+1 TV channel launched an online referendum on the future of the country. Viewers are asked to answer questions about whether Ukraine should join the EU and NATO, and whether Russian should be considered the official language in the country.

The online referendum is held at referendum.tsn.ua . Only Internet users located in Ukraine will be able to take part in the online survey. Each person will only be able to vote once. When answering questions, users must provide their name, date of birth, place of residence and email.

The referendum will last until Sunday 9 March. The results will be announced on Sunday in the TSN-Tizhden program.

The protests, which began after the Ukrainian authorities abandoned their course towards integration with Europe and lasted for the last three months, led to a change of government in mid-February. One of the first decisions of the Verkhovna Rada, in which a new majority was formed with the participation of the nationalist Svoboda party, was the repeal of the law on state language policy. This law guaranteed regional status to the Russian language. Later, after protests in the south and east of the country, acting Ukrainian President Oleksandr Turchynov vetoed the decision to repeal the law. On March 5, a bill on Ukraine's accession to NATO was also submitted to the Verkhovna Rada.

In Crimea, which has not recognized the country’s new authorities, in turn, a referendum on joining Russia will be held on March 16.
