Ex-governor of the Kharkov region Dobkin was arrested and placed in the Kyiv pre-trial detention center

The ex-governor of the Kharkov region Mikhail Dobkin was detained by Ukrainian law enforcement officers. Now he is in the pre -trial detention center of the SBU of Ukraine in Kyiv. Tomorrow in the Shevchenkovsky court of Kiev a meeting will be held on the election of a preventive measure, the exact time is not yet known, Interfax reports.

This information was already confirmed by the mayor of Kharkov and a close friend of Dobkin, Gennady Kernes, this information.

Following ITAR-TASS said that the press service of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine confirmed: the former governor of the Kharkov region Mikhail Dobkin was detained in the Ukrainian capital by law enforcement agencies.

According to the lawyer of the former official Julia Pletneva, the politician voluntarily agreed to go to Kyiv on the call of the Prosecutor General. He is charged with "committing intentional actions by a representative of the authorities, which were expressed in public calls to change the borders and territories of Ukraine and violation of the procedure established by the Constitution of Ukraine" (part 2 of article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The punishment under this article is up to five years in prison.

Earlier on Monday, the ex-head of the Kharkov regional administration, Mikhail Dobkin, received an invitation to arrive in the Main Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine. In social networks, he said that he agreed to go for an interrogation. In addition, in an interview with reporters, the politician admitted: "There will be attempts to choose a preventive measure for me in the form of arrest."

Dobkin also wrote that until today he did not receive an invitation to the investigator, but that the Ukrainian Security Service opened a criminal case against him from the media. In his opinion, the new authorities of the country want to prevent him from taking part in the presidential election campaign.

The fact that Dobkin resigned from the post of governor of the Kharkov region became known on February 27. Instead, this post was temporarily occupied by the First Deputy Head of the region Valentina Dulub. However, soon the new authorities in Kyiv appointed the former deputy of the Kharkov Regional Council Igor Balut to the vacant place.

In the recent past, Mikhail Dobkin has repeatedly spoke about the possible federalization of Ukraine. The ex-governor also stated that he has the right to introduce a “special” regime in the Kharkov region. Later, the deputies asked the SBU and the Prosecutor General’s Office to check such appeals of the head of the Kharkov Regional State Administration.

On March 7, the current head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov said that he received a report on a night incident at Kharkov Airport, where a charter flight arrived from Moscow, on board Dobkin and his guard Roman Kopylov. When passing border control, they were stopped, but they made a breakthrough through the Ukrainian point of border control and disappeared.

Dobkin himself, we note, is better known not by merits in the political field, but with his love for strong Russian expressions. In 2007, a video about how Dobkin got into the network, then preparing for the mayoral elections in Kharkov, writes a video message.
